These Halloween Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies are rich, fudgy, and just a little festive, with a creamy swirl that looks beautiful in every slice. They are the kind of treat that feels special enough for a party, but easy enough to make on a cozy afternoon at home.
Heat the oven to 350°F and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the paper if needed.
Melt the butter and chocolate together until smooth, then whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add the eggs and alcohol-free vanilla, mixing until glossy. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until combined.
In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, egg yolk, and orange food coloring if using, until smooth and creamy.
Spread most of the brownie batter into the pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the top, then add the remaining brownie batter in small dollops. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the layers together.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely before slicing.
